All WCLL Activities Suspended - Updated 3/31

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the local, state, and federal guidelines in place, we are extending the suspension of all WCLL activities, including practices and games, until the local restriction on group activities of 10 people or more is lifted. While we would love to put a date on this, we simply cannot with the rapidly changing situation on both the local and national level. With the advancements that are being made daily in diagnostic testing and treatment, we are still very optimistic that we will have a 2020 season. All of the schedules will be adjusted once the decision has been made to resume activities.

In addition, we have decided to cancel our annual fundraiser this year. With the uncertainty of when we would be able to get back up and running, and the economic challenges that many families will be facing when this situation does resolve, we felt that this was the best decision.

Some parents have inquired about cancellations/refunds. Since we are still committed to having a 2020 season, and we have already incurred many expenses in preparing for this season, we are not offering refunds at this time. Should this situation change and we cannot play a 2020 season, then the board will evaluate the best plan moving forward.

We are also waiting to hear from Little League regarding how this situation will impact this summer's All Star tournaments. While the All Star tournaments are an important part of the Little League experience for many of our players and their families, it cannot come at the expense of the regular season. Once decisions are made regarding the ability of our district, state, and other tournaments to be played, we will provide this information to everyone, and these decisions will help shape the schedule for the regular season.

Please continue to have your children work on their own every day - play catch, practice hitting, run, etc. With the children stuck in the house, it is very important for them to spend as much time as they can outside. The city has not closed any of the parks or fields, so please take advantage of them while maintaining the social distancing and disease prevention guidelines. It is especially important for pitchers to continue to throw during this time. Once we are given the "all clear" to resume activities, we be starting games as soon as we possibly can.

All of us at WCLL are looking forward to having the children back out on the field as soon as it is deemed safe for us to do so, and we are hopeful that baseball and softball can play a small part of the recovery process for the community moving forward.
